AQR adopts measures to prevent spread of coronavirus
Astan Quds Razavi has adopted extensive measures to prevent the spread of coronavirus at the holy shrine of Imam Reza (AS), says the head of Sacred Places and Pilgrims Affairs Department of Astan Quds Razavi.

Mustafa Feizi stated that the protective measures are being taken according to the instructions of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education, saying: “Before the spread of coronavirus in Iran, the department embarked on crisis management and holding training and control sessions, including staff training and double disinfection at the sacred places to control the virus infection.”
“Upon the spread of the virus in the country, we held meetings more seriously and with shorter intervals, along with other provincial agencies headed by Mashhad University of Medical Sciences, and by the emphasis of AQR chief custodian over the centrality of the Ministry of Health and Medical Education in this regard, we are taking more precautionary measures to protect the health of pilgrims, crews and servants of the holy shrine in coordination with the University of Medical Sciences,” he said.
He pointed out that in these meetings they have designed extensive actions in three sections of crews and servants, sacred places and pilgrims.
“While respecting and appreciating the services and efforts of AQR’s crews and servants,” he said, “we asked Imam Reza’s servants in other cities to stay put until further notice.”
He also pointed to the distribution of hand sanitizers, as well as training on how to use them in all resting places, service offices and guesthouses as other measures that have begun to prevent the virus.
According to Feizi, the second part of preventive measures, which concerns sacred places, disinfection and cleanliness have been strictly observed in highly contaminated places such as doors, pavements, surfaces of porticos, sanitary facilities, etc.
“Concerning pilgrims and neighbors and responding to the emphasis the chief custodian has made over the matter, we have suspended public gathering programs,” he continued.
The department has also distributed brochures, educational videos, and broadcast educational videos on outdoor TV sets, and posted more than a thousand educational posters on coronavirus, proper training and education in frequently visited places.
Elsewhere, he referred to the spiritual ritual of Itekaf in the holy shrine and called it a matter under consideration, the holding of which will be announced later.
He also pointed to the suspension of rendering services to disabled people due to the spread and dangers of the virus.
Feizi reiterated that AQR has a very good and strong capacity in the field of hygiene, health and medication, adding: “According to the decisions made regarding Dar al-Shafa, activating shifts and deploying specialists round-the-clock we will identify possible cases and will provide the necessary medical treatment as soon as preliminary investigations have been made.”
Moreover, Razavi Hospital, like before, is ready to provide medical services to pilgrims and neighbors of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine.
The hotline 2424 has been set up by the AQR Medical Institute to report any suspected coronavirus case, which can be accessed immediately by crew, servants and servants’ assistants.
