Victory and honor are two promises of Quran for patient nations, says AQR chief custodian Hoj. Ahmad Marvi in Khotbeh Khani ceremony (mourning plus eulogy while carrying candles) of Imam Reza’s (AS) martyrdom night.

Offering his condolences on the passing away of Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) and martyrdom anniversaries of Imam Hassan (AS) and Imam Reza (AS), Hoj Marvi referred to a tradition from Imam Sadeq (AS) and said: “Imam Sadeq (AS) whose knowledge and wisdom were proven for the people of the time including anti-Islam figures addresses his son Imam Musa al-Kazem (AS) and says: Knower of Prophet’s (pbuh) family will be your son and I wish I could see him. Traditions of this king suggest great scientific rank of Imam Reza (AS)”.
Introducing the Infallible Imams (AS) as the best models for humanity, Marvi stated that the Imams are guides toward salvation and they are real followers of divine orders.
He praised high value of patience in Islam, saying: “According to a tradition by Imam Reza (AS), a man is not really faithful so long as he does not have characteristics from three sources. A characteristic from God, from the Prophet (pbuh), and from devoted friends of God. The featured characteristic of friends of God and the Infallible Imams (AS) are exercising patience in hardships”.
Noting that the main principle of Islamic ummah leadership (Imamate) is based on patience, Hoj. Marvi said: “According to Quran’s Sajdah Surah, the Imams (AS) meet their great and unreachable status by practicing patience; patience is the key to gaining power with which one can control the whole universe, therefore”.
The chief custodian of AQR counted different phases of patience and said: “The Holy Quran recognizes a patient person as one who has passed all phases of patience in a way that even paradise in not attractive to him; that’s why Imam Ali (AS) addresses God by saying: God, I will tolerate the torment, but how can I bear to be away from you?”.
Citing a sentence by Allameh Amini, Marvi said: “Inimitability of Imam Ali (AS) is not because of his braveness or mastery of fighting techniques; rather it’s because of his ability to exercise patience for 25 years”.
Commenting that Hazrat Ali (AS) had no passive patience in dealing with the performance of the officials and the ordinary people, he stressed: “Patience for the sake of God and preserving Islam took Hazrat Ali (AS) to a position in which Gabriel and other angels bowed to him”.
AQR chief custodian also referred to the patience exercised by Imam Hussein (AS) and Imam Reza (AS) while facing afflictions during governance of Yazid and Ma’mun respectively. He introduced them as magnificent manifestations of Quranic patience.
Underscoring patience as the most important particle of 250-year-old life of Infallible Imams (AS), he said: “If we want to follow the path of Ahl al-Bayt and meet the essence of faith, we have to practice patience. Patience means to stand and to resist”.
Hoj. Marvi added: “Patience means if all nations and governments bow down and surrender to the pharaohs of the time, the patient and proud nation will not accept humiliation in the face of arrogance. Patience does not mean indifference, lack of motivation and accepting any humiliation”.
Hoj. Ahmad Marvi brought his speech to end by saying: “Patience is the promise of Quran for the victory of nations. God says in Al-i-Imran Surah: If you are patient and pious, the guile of the enemies cannot harm you."
The Khotbeh Khani ceremony was held with full observance of health protocols in Enqelab Eslami courtyard of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine.
