AQR donates some 36,000 books to cultural and social centers
Concurrent with the Book Reading Week, the Organization of Libraries, Museums and Documents of Astan Quds Razavi has donated 36,000 books to cultural and social centers.

Speaking on the sidelines of the donation ceremony, Hoj. Jalal Hosseini, the head of the organization, said rendering cultural services has always been underscored by the Revolution’s Leader and the AQR chief custodian.
He stressed that cultural growth and excellence are the bases of all changes in society and that unless reading is developed as a common culture in the country, cultural growth will not take place, because reading books is the basis of science and knowledge which constitute art and culture in the country.
“The second step of the Islamic Revolution is to help realization of self-improvement, socialization and building civilization, which requires the development of culture, knowledge and wisdom,” he noted.
Referring to the role of libraries in rendering cultural services, he stated that “AQR libraries are always known to people as donators of books, as well as receiving books as donations or long-term lending by cultural centers and institutions.”
“In recent years, due to the increase in the number of visits and growing demands, the organization has delegated this task to the mobile library in addition to its inherent tasks of delivering information resources to its members, including the disabled, the elderly, academicians and lecturers, etc. They should also perform the task of donating and lending books to the requesting organizations and institutions,” he remarked.
In the first half of this year, nearly 30,000 copies of books have been sent to the applicant centers as donations or long-term lending.
Astan Quds Razavi is the body in charge of Imam Reza (AS) holy shrine in Mashhad, northeast Iran.
