Printing event underscored holy shrine’s 150 years of printing
Astan Quds Razavi’s first printing unit began to work in 1877 and today it is capable of meeting all printing demands, says Masoud Farzaneh, director of Astan Quds Razavi’s Publishing Institute.

Speaking on the occasion of the National Day of Printing Industry, Farzaneh said: “Paying attention to book printing and publication at AQR shows that ever since the inception of printing at the organization it had underscored publishing books required by the shrine as an important cultural commodity. For this reason, AQR lithography came into operation with the name of Razavi printing house”.
He added: “Selected Poems by Raqam Mashhadi, is the oldest known printed work of Razavi printing house which was published in the same year of the printing house opening in 1926.”
According to Farzaneh, after the victory of Islamic Revolution, AQR’s printing capacity was at the full service of publishing revelatory teachings of Quran and the school of Islam in December 1983 upon an order by the late AQR chief custodian.
Farzaneh further noted that the printing house, thanks to its capabilities, has targeted receiving orders from other publishers, other holy shrines of the Islamic world, neighboring countries as well as other industries related to printing and advertising centers.
One major missions of the, he said, is to republish the exquisite works of the museums of the holy shrine. “A seven-volume collection of artistic masterpieces of Astan Quds Razavi is one of these reprinted works. The latest exquisite work published in this institute is the book of “Mansion of the Sun" which is a visual narration of the construction operations of the holy shrine of the Eighth Imam (AS) during restrictions imposed by the coronavirus pandemic”.
