Imam Reza shrine, fortified stronghold for protection of Shia, Islamic cultural heritage
Expressing his surprise over center’s size, variety of sections, and type of services, Varol evaluated central library of Imam Reza holy shrine as a great model for other Islamic countries.
He also described the library and other sacred premises of the shrine as a treasury full of valuable wealth which have long been watched and saved by servants of Imam Reza (AS).
Varol defined protecting this spiritual treasury as safeguarding a culture’s heritage, stating “With regard to enemies’ black records in setting fire on libraries and destroying religious places as well as plundering cultural heritage in many different Islamic countries including Turkey, the importance and value of this protection comes to light”.
The Turkish Media activist further referred to the necessary grounds for making documentations about Shia cultural heritage at the central library. He described the act as an endeavor to introduce this center to the Turkish public in general and Turkish researchers in particular.
Hurriyet Varol brought his remarks to end by saying: “What exists in this collection is a huge cultural wealth that should be used to the benefit of people”.
