Benefactor donates over $33K for expansion of children’s portico in Imam Reza holy shrine
The specialized children’s portico, inaugurated in Kowsar portico in the early days of this year, has been established to boost suitable educational programs for children, particularly with respect to Imam Reza’s life and conduct, as stressed by the Custodian of the holy shrine, Hoj. Ahmad Marvi. The portico allows children between 5 and 10 to have entertainment alongside getting familiar with some religious concepts and teachings.
The newly established portico has been so widely welcomed by the pilgrims that a benefactor, who wished to remain anonymous, opted for donating over 33 thousand dollars in an attempt to expand cultural services in the holy shrine.
According to Hoj. Hossein Shariatinejad, head of Deputy Office for Islamic Ideology Dissemination, “The benefactor donated that amount of money after a visit he made to the children’s portico and requested that it should be spent to enhance services provided for children in the holy shrine”.
Pointing to the activities of this portico, Hoj. Shariatinejad noted: “Expanding cultural services for children has been one of the goals of this office. Therefore, besides our usual programs, specialized activities for children have been put on our agenda since the start of year, so that this age group can become familiar with religious teachings through creative and appropriate approaches”.
He stressed specialized children activities require experts, proper equipment, and a variety of programs, adding: “Such programs in the holy shrine have so far been warmly welcomed by children and their families, and some parents even contributed with their donations”.
