Flower Decorating Ceremony
According to an old custom, the flowers over the burial chamber are removed and replaced with fresh ones by the head attendant of servants every morning.
Every morning before 8:00 a.m, 4 fresh and beautiful bunches of flowers are put over the four corners of the burial chamber, and the old flowers are removed and delivered to the Farrashan (sweepers) of the holy shrine.
These flowers that are preserved in the gilded flower vases, are among the most valuable and precious flowers that are prepared by the gardening experts of the Orchards Organization of Astan Quds Razavi. These flowers are transferred to the holy shrine early morning each day.
The selected flowers are tuberose, clove pink, rose, white lily, margarita, and the like, which are very beautiful and endurable remaining fresh as much as 24 hours in the crowded and warm environment of the upper side of the holy burial chamber.
During a spiritual ceremony, these flowers are put over the burial chamber, and at the same time, the pilgrims recite Salawat (salutations upon the Holy Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) and the Infallible Imams (A.S.).
The collected flowers from over the holy burial chamber are packed, and distributed as a spiritual souvenir among the pilgrims every morning within a special ceremony in Dar-al-Qur'an of Astan Quds Razavi located in Jumhuri Islami courtyard.
