Doorkeepers

The Office of Doorkeepers' Affairs consists of more than 1220 personnel, working in 8 groups. They include formal, voluntary, inherited, and special doorkeepers.
The main duties of the doorkeepers are as follows: washing and cleaning the courtyards, keeping order and discipline in the courtyards, offering necessary admonitions and guidelines to the respected pilgrims observing the Islamic behavior, dusting the courtyards according to a determined schedule, clearing snow from the roofs and the courtyards of the holy shrine, being present in the Dar-al-Saadah or Dar-al-Hikmah porticos to perform the ceremonies of Khutbah and shift delivery every morning, taking part on time in the religious ceremonies of Khutbah held on the occasions of Ashura, Sham-i-Ghariban and on the anniversary of martyrdom night of Imam Reza (A.S.), and carrying out duties in the balconies with their special sticks.
