Main function and activities of Astan Quds Razavi after the Islamic revolution

Thanks to the presence of the holy shrine of Imam Reza (A.S.) and the sacred Order of the Islamic republic and under the wise management of Ayatollah Waiz Tabasi, the Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi, such tremendous changes has occurred in political, cultural, educational, social, and economical domains that they are not comparable with the achievements of several past centuries in terms of quality and quantity. In the following the most important activities are mentioned:

1. Astan Quds Razavi’s function in the political domain
Islam has offered a widespread program for human felicity considering all aspects and needs.
Just as existence of instructions regarding the hereafter world, Islam has some programs also for material advancement that without right politics and faithful politicians would fail to succeed.
Hence one feature of the Infallible Imams (A.S.) is the position of “Sasat al-Ibad” meaning one who is tactful and manages the affairs prudently.
The political activities of Astan Quds Razavi during this period, in a general classification, can be put forth as receiving the Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Khamenei in his Nowruz visitation each year and keeping the order in such meetings, holding special ceremonies concerning revolutionary and national occasions, cooperation with the institute of Friday Prayer leader in holding Friday Prayer in the holy shrine, dispatch and encouragement of the warriors to the front during the holy defense, launching Quds Institution (Quds Daily), organizing specialized conferences over the subjects of Imam Khomeini (R.A.) and the Islamic revolution, following the instructions of the Supreme Leader in the shape of specialized conferences and summons (on subjects such as insight, consequences of cultural flows, role of Basij, Islamic civilization, Islamic awakening, soft war, Islamic life style, software movement, etc.), publication of a variety of books and papers on political though of Islam, Islamic revolution and Wilayat Faqih, and soft war.

2. Astan Quds Razavi’s function in the cultural domain
Doing extensive cultural activities in the huge complex of Astan Quds Razavi that includes different cultural institutions and divisions needs much corporation, policy making, integration, and supervision.
This critical duty is with the Supreme Cultural Council that is held regularly led by the Grand Custodian of Astan Quds Razavi with presence of distinguished features, seminary and university experts, and a number of top managers and related authorities in Astan Quds Razavi.
The experts settled at the secretariat of this council in the shape of professional groups and commissions perform software activities and due considerations regarding programs of institutions, plans and recommendations, drafting agendas and preparing analytic reports and following sanctions of the supreme council.
Some institutions of Astan Quds Razavi are the Razavi Islamic Sciences University, the In-Service Training Center for the staff of Astan Quds Razavi, the Islamic Research Foundation, the Organization of Libraries, Museums, and Center of Deeds, the Razavi Cultural Foundation (including elementary to pre-university schools), the Quds Cultural Institution, the Artistic Innovations Institution and Audio-visual Media, the Institution for Consultation Services, the Youth, and Social Researches, Beh Nashr Co. (Astan Quds Razavi Publication), the Physical Exercise Institution of Astan Quds Razavi, libraries, and museums.

3. Astan Quds Razavi’s function in the social domain
Besides economical and cultural services, the social activities of Astan Quds Razavi should not be overlooked. Such activities can be classified in medical, sport, and welfare services including establishment of the Razavi sub-specialty Hospital, the Imam central drugstore, special urgency inside the holy shrine, a specialized clinic for pediatrics and family, the Institution of Consultation, the Youth, and Social Researches, and different sport centers for pilgrims and citizens.

4. Astan Quds Razavi’s function in the economical and constructional domain
Astan Quds Razavi has always attempted in the constructional and economical filed in order to progress its cultural-propagative goals and to help in flourishing of the country.
Economical activities of Astan Quds Razavi in the shape of the Razavi Economical Organization that encompasses more than 80 companies and economical firms has caused employment creation.
More than 20,000 people are recruited as formal, contractual, or informal forces.
This complex also has called a large number of human forces inside the country for being involved in economical, cultural, service, etc., sections in the shape of indirect employment creation.

Astan Quds Razavi’s activities in the industrial and mine domains
Such activities are arrenged in two sections of industry and mine and especially food industry within 17 companies including non-metal mineral industries, sugar and hard sugar, auto industry, wood industry, weaving, and publication among which we can refer to carpet preparation and production company of Astan Quds Razavi, Printing and Publication Institution of Astan Quds Razavi (capability of offset printing, industrial printing, and food packaging), the Razavi Cement Company, Shahab Auto Company, Quds Razavi Lightweight Building Factories (Hebelex) Company, Astan Quds Razavi Wood Industry Factories Company, Quds Razavi Mines and Granit Company, Khurasan Spinning and Weaving Company, Iran Combine Manufacturing Company, Quds Razavi Flour Company, Razavi Leaven Company (Ltd), Turbat Heidariyeh Hard Sugar Corporate, Razavi Hard Sugar Corporate (Abkuh), Razavi Food Industry Company, Razavi Dairy Products Company, Chenaran Hard
Sugar Co. and Quds Razavi Bread Co.

Astan Quds Razavi’s function in agricultural and animal husbandry domain
This section operates in the shape of 12 companies and institutions in the fields of agriculture, gardening, foresting, animal husbandry, and fish breeding and yearly it offers more than 80 kinds of products to the market. Some of these companies are Malek Endowment Organization, Endowments and Agriculture Organization of Semnan Province (Damghan), Endowments and Agriculture Organization of Southern Khurasan, Endowment and Agriculture Organization of Chenaran, Razavi Agricultural Company, Agricultural Company of Quds Razavi Forest Construction, Isfarayen Cultivation and Industry Co. Anabod Kashmar Cultivation and Industry Company, Sarakhs Cultivation and Industry Company of Astan Quds Razavi, Orchards Institution of Astan Quds Razavi, Kenehbist Razavi Cultivation and Livestock Institution, and Nemuneh Farm Cultivation and Industry Institution, and the first full-intelligent 30,000 tone wheat warehouse of Razavi Flour Company.

Astan Quds Razavi’s service, constructional, and medical activities
The activities in this domain can be classified in three sections of building and housing, road construction, computer and IT and communications, health, treatment and medicine, insurance and financial services carried out by 15 companies including Grand Khurasan Construction and Development Organization, Razavi distribution Company, Razavi Researches and Technology, Razavi Insurance Services, Samen Pharmaceutics Co. Astan Quds Razavi’s service, constructional, and medical activities in the vicinity of the holy shrine
Astan Quds Razavi has accomplished different constructional activities nearby the holy shrine apart from constructional activities in different regions.
These activities include construction of the fifth zarih for Imam Reza (A.S.), construction of a U-turn between Shirazi, Nawwab Safavi, and Tabarsi Streets totally in a build-up area of 35500 sq.m., four parking lots, construction of underpasses, and courtyards such as the Razavi Jame’ courtyard, Rezvan courtyard, Kowsar courtyard, Ghadir courtyard, Jumhuri Islami courtyard and porticos such as Imam Khomeini (R.A.), Dar al-Ijabah, Dar al-Ikhlas, Dar al-Rahmah, Dar al-Hidayah, Dar al-Hujjah, and Dar al-Marhamah porticos.
