Every year, more than a million people visit Astan Quds Razavi museum, one of the largest museums in Iran. Access to this museum is very simple and by visiting it in the heart of the Imam Reza (AS) Shrine you can see various fascinating collections of historic and artistic works.
Every year, more than a million people visit Astan Quds Razavi museum, one of the largest museums in Iran. Access to this museum is very simple and by visiting it in the heart of the Imam Reza (AS) Shrine you can see various fascinating collections of historic and artistic works. The central museum building located at Kowsar courtyard (sahn) has 9 collections such as Razavi Shrine history, stamps and banknotes, astronomy and clocks, firearms and cold weapons, dishes, visual arts, oysters and sea snails, coins and medals.

The carpet museum is located next to the central museum in a separated 3-floor building. Also Quran and masterpieces building is next to the central museum containing holy Quran, masterpieces, donated gifts and works of Iranian painter Mahmoud Farshchian.

Another museum in Astan Quds Razavi is the museum of anthropology of Mashhad whose monument used to be a historic bath of the Safavid era and is located beside al-Hadi entrance door. Currently a museum with an area of 80,000 square meters is under construction and after the completion of this building about 8,000 objects in the museum will be identified and placed separately in seven major categories. They include Imam Reza (AS) pilgrimage and devotion, the history of science and art from Astan Quds Razavi’s perspective, museum of Quran and Imam Reza (AS), Guardianship of the Islamic Jurist, Revolution and anticipation as well as dedication of vows and covenants.

The central library of Astan Quds Razavi is another cultural achievement since the Islamic Revolution and has followed a growing trend so far. Currently, in addition to the central library, 20 libraries affiliated with Astan Quds Razavi operate in Mashhad and 22 other libraries throughout the country. Manuscripts repository and restoration of works section in this library id one of the richest reservoirs of the country's handwritten books.

This enormous cultural collection is visited by many foreign tourists annually; furthermore several scientific delegations from different countries have participated in this organization to establish mutual scientific and educational cooperation.
